THE HOT TAMALE

Well, here she is. She arrived several weeks ago and I just got the nerve to take her out for a spin just last night. I have purchased my first official road bike to use in the triathlons in May and June and whatever else we decide to participate in. So I guess this makes it official. Since I invested in a new road bike, there will be no more "I am thinking about doing a triathlon." I am now officially committed and I will take the time to register when I finish this blog. I also bought a new silicone swim cap from Target. Jessica told me that the silicone caps won't pull my hair as bad but the only thing I think of when I hear silicone is Sir Mix-A-Lot singing, "Silicone parts are made for toys...." So how did my first spin around the block go? Well Hot Tamale, made out of aluminum, is so lightweight that I almost fell off. If you notice from the picture, road bikes are built like boy bikes. If you fall off, it could hurt very badly. However, it is much easier to ride than my ol' $59 Walmart bike!! I sure hope I can get her up to about 25 mph and maintain that speed for all the tris! Right now, Ijust need a good lesson on how to shift the gears.
